Message from the Dean of the College

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Praise be to Allah, who created the universe as a painting complete in its colours, adorned existence with the light of beauty, and made the sense of splendour a trait of humankind; and peace and blessings be upon the one who, in his creation and his character, was the greatest art and the most perfect image, Mohammed the Chosen One, and upon his good and pure family.

At the College of Fine Arts – University of Shatrah, we believe that art is not an aesthetic luxury but the pulse and soul of life. It is a deep awareness of existence, and the voice of the human being searching for the self in realms of light and shadow, colour, sound and movement.

Here we celebrate creative imagination and the taste that shapes vision and gives things their meaning. Our students do not merely learn; they create, discover and reshape the world in their own way.

We seek to make our college a free space in which creativity breathes and generations meet in their love of art and beauty, drawing the spirit of authenticity from our ancient Iraqi heritage and the openness of experimentation from the world.

Because art is a message and a responsibility, we are keen for our graduates to be torches of awareness and beauty, planting hope in hearts and making of their works mirrors that reflect the bright face of Iraq in its culture, civilisation and people.

Together, teachers and students, we will go forward on a path of light and creativity, carrying the dream and nourishing it with knowledge and work, so that the College of Fine Arts – University of Shatrah remains a home for beauty, a stage for imagination and a workshop of light that never fades.
