The College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences Holds a Scientific Seminar on Legal Methods of Combating Drugs in Society
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Jarallah, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Kadhim Yasser, the Legal Division, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organised a scientific seminar entitled "Legal Methods of Combating Drugs in Society" on Sunday, 16 November 2025, in the College's seminar hall.
The seminar was presented by Asst. Lect. Amer Alaa Taha, Head of the Legal Division, and Ms. Surour Jaleel Hassan –
The seminar was moderated by Mr. Karrar Abd Atshan.
The seminar reviewed the main legal themes concerning combating drugs, focusing on the role of legislation in protecting society by toughening penalties for traffickers and dealers, activating investigative and judicial follow-up procedures, and strengthening coordination between security and legal authorities. It also highlighted the importance of spreading legal awareness among the various groups of society and encouraging the reporting of suspicious activities.
The seminar further stressed the preventive role of law within educational institutions, and the need to involve students in spreading a culture of rejecting drugs and consolidating law-abiding behaviour, thereby contributing to building a safe university environment free of this scourge.
