The University of Shatrah participated in the Iraqi Universities Billiards Championship, held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and organized by the Student Activities Department of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, and hosted by Al-Farahidi University, in cooperation with the Iraqi Federation for University Sports, and in coordination with the Central Iraqi Billiards Federation, with the participation of 70 public and private universities.
The university delegation was headed by Assistant Lecturer Mukhtar Jassim Nasser, while the university team was represented by students Abbas Ali Yasser and Hassan Salah Hassan from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, in competitions run under the supervision of an international and national arbitration team from the Central Iraqi Billiards Federation.
The President of the University of Shatrah, Professor Dr. Basem Abdul Hussein Al-Ghazi, stressed the university’s keenness to support student sports activities, provide opportunities that contribute to developing students’ skills and hone their talents, and encourage them to participate in university tournaments, in a way that enhances the spirit of positive competition and teamwork, and contributes to representing the university in an honorable manner in university sports forums.
This participation comes within the framework of the University of Shatrah’s interest in promoting extracurricular activities, consolidating the sports culture among students, and expanding the bonds of communication and cooperation between Iraqi universities.
