College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences Holds a Scientific Seminar on Legal Methods of Combating Drugs within Society
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Jarallah, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Kadhim Yasser, the Legal Division, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organised a scientific seminar entitled: "Legal Methods of Combating Drugs within Society" on Sunday, 16 November 2025, in the college's Seminar Hall.
The seminar was presented by Asst. Lect. Amer Alaa Taha – head of the Legal Division, and Ms. Suroor Jaleel Hassan –
The seminar was moderated by Mr. Karrar Abd Atshan.
The seminar reviewed the main legal themes concerning the fight against drugs, focusing on the role of legislation in protecting society by toughening penalties on traffickers and dealers, activating investigation and judicial follow-up procedures, and strengthening coordination between security and legal bodies. It also highlighted the importance of spreading legal awareness among the various segments of society and encouraging the reporting of suspicious activities.
The seminar also emphasised the preventive role of the law within educational institutions and the need to involve students in spreading a culture of rejecting drugs and consolidating law-abiding conduct, contributing to building a safe university environment free of this scourge
