On the occasion of World Arabic Language Day, and in the shade of a language that encompassed the Book of God in word and purpose"
and recalling its civilisational standing as the vessel of Arab identity, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kadhim Khudhair Al-Qadhi, a faculty member at the College of Education for Girls at the University of Shatrah, held a scientific workshop entitled
«A Journey into the Genius of the Arabic Language: From Roots to Identity», at the Technical Institute – Al-Shatrah, amid distinguished academic attendance and interaction.
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the Technical Institute – Al-Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Muwaffaq Abdul-Aziz Al-Hasnawi, along with a select group of teaching staff and students, as the lecture hall was crowded with participants celebrating this linguistic occasion.
The event opened with a speech by the Dean, in which he affirmed that celebrating the eighteenth of December represents a civilisational moment of self-reflection, noting that the Arabic language is not merely a means of communication but a living civilisational entity that carries within it a deep intellectual and human heritage, and a beacon of knowledge and wisdom throughout the ages.
In his lecture, Dr. Al-Qadhi addressed the historical roots of the Arabic language and its global standing, explaining that its adoption as an official language of the United Nations in 1973 constituted international recognition of its civilisational value. He also highlighted the genius of the linguistic system of Arabic and its unique harmony between form and meaning, in addition to the honour of carrying the miraculous inimitability of the Holy Qur'an, which granted it permanence and sanctity.
The workshop witnessed constructive scholarly interaction, as attendees discussed the importance of the Arabic language regaining its leading role in scientific and academic institutions, as the main pillar in preserving Arab and Islamic identity and an effective means of rigorous knowledge production.
The workshop concluded with the honouring of Asst. Prof. Dr. Kadhim Khudhair Al-Qadhi in appreciation of his scientific efforts, with emphasis on the importance of sustaining such cultural and scientific events, which contribute to consolidating linguistic awareness, strengthening the standing of the Arabic language and protecting it from marginalisation and alienation.
