Faculty Member from the College of Education for Girls / University of Shatrah Delivers an Online Scientific Lecture at the House of Linguistics Academy – Turkey.
Proceeding from the principle of academic cooperation between the University of Shatrah and Arab and international academic institutions, the House of Linguistics Academy in the Republic of Turkey organised an online scientific seminar entitled:
((Argumentation in Chaïm Perelman: Epistemic Nostalgia for the Aristotelian Legacy)), on Sunday, 28 December 2025, at 9:00 p.m.
The seminar was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Adnan Rasmi Yasser, a faculty member at the College of Education for Girls – Department of Arabic Language, while it was moderated by Dr. Sara Adwali of Moulay Ismail University / Kingdom of Morocco.
The lecture addressed Chaïm Perelman's concept of argumentation as a persuasive discourse based on probability and opinion, and through it the lecturer posed a pivotal question:
Is epistemic nostalgia for Aristotelian rhetoric a shortcoming of the modern mind?
Amid remarkable engagement from the audience, the lecturer reviewed Perelman's project, which restored the standing of Aristotelian rhetoric after its decline due to the rise of bourgeois thought and the dominance of the empirical sciences, thereby establishing a rational, debatable discourse far removed from inflated emotional discourses.
The seminar witnessed distinguished scholarly interaction from male and female researchers, in the form of in-depth questions and sound contributions, in addition to the scholarly praise the lecturer received in appreciation of his outstanding research effort.
This participation comes as part of supporting the research activity of the teaching staff of the College of Education for Girls – University of Shatrah and encouraging them towards academic openness and external scientific participation with Arab and non-Arab universities, contributing to raising the academic standard and strengthening the College's international academic presence..
