برعاية السيد رئيس جامعة الشطرة الاستاذ الدكتور باسم عبد الحسين جارالله، واشراف السيدة عميد كلية التربية للبنات الاستاذ الدكتورة أفراح عبد مكطوف ، اقامت كلية التربية للبنات قسم رياض الاطفال وبالتعاون مع وحدة التعليم المستمر، ورشة حضورية يوم الخميس المصادف 2024/9/26 قامت بالقائها ( م.م امال عودة غضاب) التدريسية في قسم رياض الاطفال بـعنوان( Types of Essay in Academic Writing) ،
وبحضور رئيس القسم (أ.م.د منتظر سلمان كطفان) ومجموعة من الاساتذة والطالبات
وتضمنت الورشة مجموعة من المحاور والاهداف التالية :-
Essay is a short piece of writing about a specific topic. It consists of three parts: introduction, body of text, and conclusion. It may include telling a story, description, persuasion, critical idea, argument, problem/ solution, analytical thought, compare/contrast, and cause/effect.
_Parts of Essay
1.Introduction: the first paragraph of an essay is called introduction. It contains the main idea of the topic.
2.Body: occurs between the introduction and the conclusion. It contains the details and information about the topic.
3.Conclusion: is the last paragraph of an essay. It summarizes the whole idea of the topic and gives the results of the topic under discussion.
_Types of Essay:
1.Narrative Essay: tells a story or describes an event or experience often drawing from the writer’s own experiences or observations. For Example ”Write about an event that happens in your childhood”.
2.. Descriptive Essay : it paints a picture with words. These essays use rich sensory details, metaphors, and figurative language to create a vivid and immersive experiences.
-Example of descriptive essay: ”Describe your college”.
3.Argumentative Essay: These essays require a deep understanding of the topic, critical analysis of multiple perspectives, and the ability to construct a compelling argument.
-for Example ”the use of social media can be a waste of time”.
4.Persuasive Essay: convinces the reader to take a specific action or adopt a particular viewpoint.
For Example ”Everyone should switch to electronic cars to reduce our carbon footprint and protect the environment.”
5.A Problem/Solution Essay: describes a problem and gives some suggestions for solving the problem.
6.A Cause/ Effect Essay: analyzes the causes (reasons), and effects (results) of a situation or even.
7. An Opinion Essay: expresses how you feel about the topic. It depends upon the viewpoint of the writer and whether the reader agree or disagree about a topic.
8. Critical Essays: offer a critical analysis and evaluation of a text, artwork, or phenomenon, exploring its strengths, weaknesses, and implications.
9. Compare and Contrast Essays:
they highlight similarities and differences between two or more subjects.
